  1. 1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter
  2. 8 apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  3. 1 cup brown sugar
  4. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  5. 1/2 lemon, juiced
  6. 2 tablespoons cinnamon, separated
  7. 1 1/2 pounds gingersnaps, crumbled
  8. 2 tubs store-bought whipped cream
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add apples, brown sugar, flour, lemon juice and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. Stir to combine, then cook for 6 minutes. Set aside to cool
  2. Spoon one layer of the apple mixture into a trifle dish. Add a layer of crumbled gingersnaps, then a layer of whipped cream. Repeat until all ingredients are used
  3. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream, sprinkle with remaining cinnamon and crumbled gingersnaps, then serve
