  3. 1 1/2 cups water
  4. 3 tablespoons canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
  5. 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice

  3. In 2-quart saucepan, stir together sugar and water. Cook until sugar is dissolved (do not boil).

  5. Beat in pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice with whisk. Cook (do not boil) 5 minutes longer.

  7. Remove from heat. Cool at least 30 minutes.

  9. Pour syrup into bottle, jar or storage container. Store in refrigerator.
